Spring 2014 was Lagerfeld’s Chanel/Basel moment: the Grand Palais became a vast white gallery, filled with Chanel-inflected artworks, while the clothes themselves absorbed the language of collage, bricolage, deconstruction and pop colour — longer quite tweed in the conventional sense, but hybrid constructions rebuilt through multiple processes.

This skirt is one of the clearest examples of that idea — ribbon tweed turned almost into an object, with colour behaving less like decoration and more like material.

• Crafted from highly complex multicolour ribbon tweed, woven in vivid bands of cobalt, emerald, hot pink, yellow, red, violet and deep navy

• The ribbons are interlaced with PVC elements, giving the textile a glossy, almost enamelled surface

• Colour appears in short rectangular flashes rather than conventional stripes, creating the effect of a woven paint chart

• Inside, the skirt is finished with tonal silk lining

• A sheer black underlayer extends slightly below the tweed hem, giving the mini silhouette more depth and movement
