CHANEL · Dark Navy & Red Embroidered Coat with Lionhead Buttons
— Paris–Salzburg Métiers d’Art 2015 · Karl Lagerfeld
Paris–Salzburg was one of Lagerfeld’s most personal Métiers d’Art collections.
Salzburg connected Chanel history with Lagerfeld’s own childhood memories of the Tyrol, while the clothes drew on Alpine uniforms, military academy tailoring, Tyrolean embroidery and the page-boy jacket that helped inspire Chanel’s signature cardigan form.
// Size mark 42 FR / ConditionL never worn //
Crafted from dense dark navy wool felt, smooth, substantial and almost black in low light
The surface is clean and architectural, allowing the embroidery to read with maximum precision
Rich red Tyrolean-inspired embroidery runs along the collar, sleeves and front in elongated scrolling motifs
The contrast is strong but controlled: deep navy as the ground, red as the graphic accent
Gold-tone lion-head CC buttons punctuate the cuffs, bringing one of Chanel’s most recognisable symbols into the otherwise restrained composition
The high collar gives the coat a more formal, almost uniform-like posture
Inside, the piece is finished with tonal silk lining
