Dempsey Hill carries three histories on one site: a plantation, then a barracks, then a quiet corner of a city that rebuilt the rest. Lagerfeld did not decorate it. He chose it and dressed the collection to match — a palette held to black, white, ivory and navy, and tailoring that looks back to Chanel's own borrowings from men.
